Course provides students with basic administrative terms and tasks on UNIX and MS Windows operating systems. Students will get skills to understand and configure basic components of an OS on a PC hardware platform.

1. OS administration principals, administrator rights and
their obtaining.^
2. Users administration, name services.^
3. System shutdown and startup. Process init.^
4. Disk subsystem administration. Swap.^
5. Filesystem administration.^
6. Ecryption and authentization, cryptography in network
7. Securing OS UNIX.^
8. Windows installation, configuration and patch management
9. Resources administration and access rights.^
10. Administration and performance tools.^
11. Windows network administration.^
12. Backup, troubleshooting and security.^
13. Active Directory and Group Policy.^
14. Windows administration in the heterogeneous environment

Seminar syllabus:
